Characteristics
The last stage of this Dolomite Wild WoMen Trek still offers plenty of trails and panoramas on the final descent, 800m down from the Tierser Alpl Hut via the Alpe di Siusi. The route is not the shortest, but it is one of the finest in the region: the five-day tour concludes with the wonderful trail on the Mahlknechtjoch/Passo Duron, the panoramic stretch to Zallinger, the long way round the placid Wolfsbühel and the technically demanding descent to Siusi on fascinating trails and gravel roads.
After a night's sleep and breakfast at the Tierser Alpl Hut, you return along the previous day’s magnificent route to the Mahlknechtjoch/Passo Duron. If the view is clear you can see the Marmolada on the horizon.
The next highlight of the tour, heading towards the Plattkofel/Sassopiatto, is the panoramic trail from the Dialer Church in the direction of Zallinger. Your bike is put to the test along a narrow hiking trail that you will want to go on and on; but the fun has to end after 2 km as the next section, featuring obstacles and steps, is reserved for hikers.
Now comes a descent of 160m, followed by a climb in the direction of the Zallinger Hut, a real gem: the view from its terrace to the south-east reveals the “flat” face of the Plattkofel/Sassopiatto, while to the south-west is the panorama in the direction of the Plattkofel/Sassopiatto Hut, Palatsch/Palacia, the Mahlknecht Hut and the Rosszähne/Denti di Terra Rossa.
The next kilometres are largely downhill in full view of the Plattkofel/Sassopiatto and Langkofel/Sassolungo. From the Jender Valley the tour does not proceed along the direct route to Saltria, but takes a detour around the Wolfsbühel, a rise to the west of the Jender Valley. The beautiful pastureland represents the Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi at its finest. The Sanon Hut is the next opportunity for refreshments, with the excellent food a fitting reward for the short extension to the tour (250m to the right at waymarker 33).
Pedal a short stretch on the road towards Compaccio then, just below the village near the Zorzi Hotel, a hiking trail turns off in the direction of the Spitzbühel car park. After the Jaggl Schwaige Hut the path becomes an enjoyable trail leading you to the car park of the Spitzbühel lift.
Now comes another feature to delight the experts, the narrow, tricky trail to Gstatsch, which partially follows an ancient cart track: be careful here, as it can be very slippery when wet or after rain. From Gstatsch you continue downhill in the direction of Bad Ratzes. After crossing the stream of the Frommer Bach/Rio Fromm you re-enter the civilised world, joining a gravel road. Under the ruins of Castelvecchio Castle an undulating trail begins that leads to the car park at the bottom of the Alpe di Siusi aerial cable- way. This is just a few minutes from the Tourist Information Office in Siusi, the original point of departure for this unforgettable tour.

Variations
1. Shorter return: do not turn right in the direction of Zallinger at waymarker 7 but go straight on, past the Mahlknecht Hut, Almrosen Hut and Goldknopf to the Alpenhotel Panorama. Then follow the road over the pass down to Compaccio and rejoin the tour described above to the left near the Tourist Information Office (waymarker 46).

2. Tour omitting Jender Valley and Wolfsbühel: do not bear right at waymarker 16 towards Monte Pana but take a sharp left towards Saltria. Take the road in the direction of Compaccio past the Rauch Hut and on to the junction for the Ritsch Schwaige Hut (waymarker 37), where you continue the tour on the left.

3. Tour omitting the Ritsch Schwaige Hut and Gostner Schwaige Hut: do not turn left towards the Ritsch Schwaige Hut at waymarker 37 but go straight on along the road to the crossroads for the Hotel Steger Dellai (waymarker 45), where you rejoin the tour described above.

4. Easier descent: if the downhill trails are too difficult, you can leave the route at waymarkers 56, 58 or 61 and simply ride down the Strada dell’Alpe di Siusi via St. Konstantin/Saint Costantino to the end of the tour in Siusi.

Coming from the north:
take motorway (A22) exit for Chiusa - Alpe di Siusi, SS12 as far as Ponte Gardena, then in the direction of Alpe di Siusi.
Coming from the south:
take motorway (A22) exit for Bolzano nord - Alpe di Siusi, SS12 as far as Prato all’Isarco, then in the direction of Alpe di Siusi.
