Biking in the holiday region of the Alpe di Siusi/ Seiser Alm in the Dolomites
Countless bike tours on Europe’s largest mountain plateau and around the villages at the foot of the Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm promise a variety-packed biking holiday from spring to autumn.
The unique thing about biking on the Alpe di Siusi is its two “storeys”: On the Alpe di Siusi itself, up on high at an altitude of 1,800 – 2,300 metres below the Sassolungo-Langkofel and the Sassopiatto/Plattkofel. And 1,000 metres below, in the small villages of Castelrotto/ Kastelruth, Siusi allo Sciliar/ Seis am Schlern, Fiè allo Sciliar/Völs am Schlern and Tires al Catinaccio/Tiers am Rosengarten. These two different elevations make biking possible throughout three seasons of the year: When the skiers, snowboarders and winter hikers are still having fun on the snow on the Alpe di Siusi in the springtime, down in the villages and surrounding areas bikers are already in the saddle. From February until well into November, you can find variety-packed tours of every type around the Alpe di Siusi, from super-easy family tours to loop-routes and challenging ascents – and the views are never anything less than breathtaking. Naturally, bikers can also get to the Sellaronda from the Alpe di Siusi: It has its very own access point from the 2,000 metre high Alpine plateau.
